Abraham Paskowitz the scion of the Paskowitz Surf Family and Chris Silverman Silvermann on site to show new line
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 3 February, 2010 : - - San Francisco -- This up coming 2010 spring season is going to see Mavericks and its legendary big-wave contest continue to share its ocean spirit and deep connectivity to the SF Bay Area urban and music scene.
Designer Chris Silverman, originally from the East Coast, chased the surfing dream after graduating from High School to San Diego, California. Those times drenched in beach culture would inspire his work as owner of XL Clothing and later on working for Levis too. Yet only now, almost 20yrs later, has a project come his way, that justifies him jumping into the surf industry:
“I’m really excited to be back into the surf world. As a kid that’s all I wanted to do and now I feel I have so much more to give to the industry. We have so much going on in SF Bay Area, from Oakland where I live, to Santa Cruz to Half Moon Bay where the sounds, feel and visuals are the core inspiration for our line. We are a small start-up but we’ve got a grand vision and brand name to follow-up to!”
National Sales Rep, Abe Paskowitz will also be on site at this coming ASR. Needing no introduction, this offspring of the Paskowitz dynasty brings all the experience of a life-time connected to the surf industry.
What is less known, is how SF saved Abe’s passion and love for surfing – a life-changing session at big Ocean Beach brought it all home and inspired Abe to find new avenues in life and with that a whole new cycle in his personal and professional life. The Paskowitz’s are surfing and because of that all give back to surfing!
Mavericks surfer and Environmental Coordinator for Mavericks, Joao De Macedo will also be onsite at booth to help preview the line and explain the inspiration that goes into sharing Mavericks with the world!
About Mavericks™ and The Mavericks Surf Contest®: Every winter season, Mother Nature offers up the ocean’s harshest conditions and the giant, unpredictable waves that characterize Mavericks and the annual Mavericks Surf Contest®. Frigid waters, dangerous currents, jagged rocks and the ever-present threat of the great white shark. Mix these with perfect weather conditions, and 24 chosen surfers making the contest call themselves for the best, biggest day possible.
When they do, they will have only 24 hours to arrive in Half Moon Bay to face the massive waves and each other. Coined as "the wave beyond," the Mavericks™ brand inspires hardcore athletes to face the unpredictably raw power of Mother Nature, and stirs the souls of those who aspire to challenge their own limits. Mavericks remains true to its core: a cold, mysterious and foreboding place that demands respect from everyone who goes there and inspires them to attempt the extraordinary.
