Keep The Ocean Blue North Shore Tow-In Champs

Puaena Point and/or Avalanche Oahu
15 December - 31 March 2010

Contest Officials Looking at Possible Go

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 6 February, 2010 : - - Forecasts are looking good for giant swells the next two weeks. Contest officials are watching a big swell form north of Oahu that can send large enough waves to run the event by midweek, Feb. 9-11.

Forecasters see a direction of about a 295 degree angle, slightly west. This will cause some shadowing by Kauai for the largest waves. Conditions at Haleiwa Harbor could be a bit smaller than the north end of the seven mile miracle surf breaks of the North Shore. The Keep the Ocean Blue North Shore Tow In is mobile to some of the biggest outer reefs so officials are checking the set up closely.

Competitors should check in with Director Alec Cooke and be prepared for the GO, (green) signal at a moments notice. All competitors should be paid and registered. Check northshoretowin.com for information and links and at haleiwa-tow-in.com.

The contest head-quarters for check in are located between the main boat ramp and the Haleiwa Alii Beach Park lifeguard tower. Red is a no go, yellow is an alert for check in and green is a go.  A briefing is scheduled Tuesday the 9th at 5pm at the Harbor. A final decision will be at first light on Wednesday, Feb. 10th.

Keep the Ocean Blue is an environmental project designed by contest director Alec Cooke. Cooke swam about 100 miles around Oahu in 10 days to raise awareness regarding conditions of our near shore reefs and water quality.

Keep The Ocean Blue North Shore Tow-In Championship: Competitor's should check in with Contest Director Ace Cooke at  808-227-2425. Entry requires signed check-in by each team.
