Long Longboards are New Addition to the Hyundai Malfunction
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 9 February, 2010 : - - The Malfunction has always been for and will continue to be for the amateur competitor. After all not all of us can be pro surfers but we still like to mix it up out in the water with other style masters from around the globe. With a range of amateur divisions for everyone from under 18's girls and boys to over 65's, from old loggers to long longboarders there is a division to suit everyone and with great spot prizes like new longboards and the latest apparel to be given away to amateur competitors the amateur divisions will as always be a heap of fun. “We’ve added a new division this year for those that love to surf long longboards” said organiser Sean McKeown, “It’s for boards over 10’6 in length. We feel there are a number of longboarders out there that love the feel of the glide that these longer boards have, and while they are harder to throw around, the longer drawn out turns look fantastic to those watching.” The wild surf conditions that have ravished Qld and NSW over the last few days are expected to have a positive effect for the contest as the sand flows from the mouth of Cudgen Creek to reshape a point style sand bank at the contest venue in front of the Cudgen SLSC at Kingscliff.
