Brand backs British surfing with training for coaches & beach protection

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 8 March, 2010 : - - Protest has joined forces with the national governing body, BSA, to help support surfing from a grassroots level and subsequently help to create world-class riders of the future. As sponsors, Protest will support the BSA in running its surfing lessons, providing training for coaches and with their Save Our Surf campaign to protect surfing areas on beaches.

The BSA also runs a number of prestigious events, including the British National Championships, British Student Championships and British Schools Championships, which Protest will be looking at sponsoring.  The BSA also supports the British Surfing Team’s pursuit for glory at the World Surfing Games.

Paul Wilkinson, Protest UK country manager, said: “The BSA plays a fantastic role as ambassadors of the sport so we are excited to be working side-by-side with them to support surfing in Britain.  There is a multitude of talent in this country and we want to give everyone the best opportunity to fulfil their potential.”

Joanne Hillman, BSA operations manager, said: “It’s great to have Protest on board supporting British surfing at the grassroots level and putting back into junior development.  The brand has a strong ethos of supporting the growth of talented riders and helping them fulfill their ambitions.”

Recently, Protest signed Sarah Beardmore - its first British team rider to its growing squad, and is now looking to add more riders to its team and is currently following the progress of several surfers. Sarah, 26, joined the brand following a highly successful year finishing in the top five European riders in the WQS and becoming British Champion.

Originally from Dorset, Sarah spent the majority of her life in Australia until moving back to England in 2009.  Since returning she now represents her home country and is hoping to be the first British girl to make it onto the World Championship Tour (WCT).
