'Roll With RVCA' to hit KZN, Port Alfred, Port Elizabeth, Strand and Melkbosstrand
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 16 March, 2010 : - - RVCA South Africa is proud to announce their 'Roll With RVCA' grassroots surfing project, which will be in attendance at various beaches across the country. Roll With RVCA will consist of a series of lifestyle day surf contests that will encourage family participation, and will all be hosted by local surf shops.
Zigzag Magazine will be presenting the series, and there will be a Zigzag staff photographer in attendance at every event to capture the surfers and their rides. RVCA will also have a videographer at the events to record the family fun of the day. Results, images and video of each event and the competitors will be uploaded on the zigzag.co.za website as well as through various RVCA online portals.
Contrary to your standard surf contest, the Roll With RVCA events will have several unique division categories that will open up the events to everyone in the family, including U19, Open, Over 35, Girls and a Retro division. Prizes for these contests will consist of R10,000 worth of RVCA products per event across the divisions.
Venues that have already been earmarked for these events are North Coast KZN, South Coast KZN, Port Alfred, Port Elizabeth, Strand and Melkbosstrand, with the first event set for Port Elizabeth on 28 March. This inaugural event of the series will be hosted by Surf Centre Port Elizabeth.
Zigzag editor Will Bendix is happy with the partnership and excited to have Zigzag Magazine on board for this unique venture. "Yes we're stoked to be partnering with RVCA on such a cool project," said Bendix on the upcoming series. "This series is set to really give back to grassroots surfing."
Roll With RVCA is a community-based surf series, and young and old are encouraged to attend. It is set to be a fun day on the beach where everyone can enjoy themselves and participate in the events. The series is positioned to not focus solely on the best surfers in the country, and is set to concentrate instead on surfers who will enter such events for the pure enjoyment of surfing with family and friends.
