Lopez the latest to join Las Vegas-based Energy Drink company

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 17 March, 2010 : - - Las Vegas, Nevada; Rockstar Energy and Del Mar Media Athletes & Events are pleased to announce the addition of Professional Surfer Cory Lopez as Rockstar’s newest marquee team rider.

The prodigious goofy footer is known for his fearless tube riding at venues like Teahupoo and Pipeline as well as his innovative, high flying aerial antics above the wave. The 3 time X Games Gold Medalist and former ASP World # 3 was recently lauded for helping to lead the US Team to their first Gold medal in 13 years at the Olympic (IOC) recognized, ISA World Games in Costa Rica last summer, while taking an individual ‘Silver’ medal for his runner-up finish.

Cory’s competitive efforts have landed him championship titles at the U.S. Open of Surfing, The ASP Billabong Pro, Teahupoo Tahiti and a third place Finish at the Banzai Pipeline Masters, among numerous other accolades. A multi-year Top 10 finalist on both the ASP World Tour and the prestigious Surfer Magazine Poll Awards; the two time ‘Guts for Glory’ winner; was honored with Surfer’s Best Tube Ride of the year in 2009 for his long barrel (video) sequence, documented at the secret ‘Left’ Point Break, discovered during Surfing Magazine’s Google Earth Challenge, “somewhere in Africa”.
