Boardwalk Fundraising Event Draws on Community for Support and Awareness

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 27 July, 2010 : - - Asbury Park, New Jersey -- Langosta Lounge, Pop’s Garage and Lightly Salted Surf Mercado, two Asbury Park restaurants and a surf shop owned by Jersey Shore mogul Marilyn Schlossbach, will team with Surfers Environmental Alliance on Thursday, August 5 to present a fundraising event for the 4th Annual SEA Paddle NYC.

Boasting over 15 prize giveaways from brand-name sponsors, live entertainment, boardwalk surf-film screenings and cocktail and food specials, the event will bring together the best of Jersey Shore’s surf and environmental community.The event will help raise funds for two of Schlossbach’s employees, as well as other Monmouth County community members, participating in SEA Paddle NYC 2010.
 
Now in its fourth year, SEA Paddle NYC is a 28-mile, charity stand-up paddle that benefits Surfers Environmental Alliance (SEA) and eight autism organizations. The paddle will kick off on August 13 at Pier 40 in Manhattan, and will finish an estimated six hours later at the South Street Seaport.

Following the water sports event, two after parties, hosted at NYC’s Water Taxi Beach and The South Street Seaport respectively, will commence.
In 2009, SEA Paddle NYC raised nearly $250,000 for charity.This year, with more paddlers than ever, The SeaStreak Ferry, based in the Atlantic Highlands, will donate free transportation for supporters and participants in SEA Paddle NYC.
 
Schlossbach’s two employees, Claire Condie and Dudley Delhagen, will participate in SEA Paddle NYC for the first time.The August-5 preliminary event will help raise funds for their participation, as well as for other local paddlers.Noteworthy for the Jersey Shore, more than 20 stand-up paddlers from Monmouth and Ocean County will partake in this year’s monumental paddle.
 
Prize giveaways for the August -5 fundraising event include merchandise from Patagonia, Foster’s, The Jersey Paddler, The Bee, Hardtails, East Coast Sea Glass Design and more. Cocktail specials will be provided by 42 Below Vodka.Other prize giveaways include surf lessons, photography, artwork, messages and more.
