Uemura ousts good friends to earn coveted slot  |  française ci-dessous

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 1 November, 2010 : - - Makaha -- Kekoa Uemura wins the trials of the Oxbow Wave Sliders ASP World Longboard Championship and won a spot into the main event. Clean waves hit Makaha Beach today and Kekoa gave his best against his friends: Makamae DeSoto, Keoni Keaulana from Makaha and Danilo Rodriguo from Brazil.

Kekoa lives at Waikiki, himself a former surfer on the world tour but last year he didn't qualify into the top 16 for the main event. With his incredible level, Kekoa has shown us that he has the potential to compete with the top longboarders in the world. In his first heat he will -challenge world champion Harley Ingleby.

The three other finalist for the trials gave Kekoa a run for his money including Makamae DeSoto who was initially leading during the final heat. Disputing for first place they had a challenging showdown leaving the public and competitors alike in great suspense.

The day was epic and rich in emotions for the riders and announce a great event for the rest of the week especially with the big swell advisory underway.

Uemura  gagne ! 

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 1 November, 2010 : - - Makaha -- Kekoa Uemura gagne les qualifications du Oxbow Wave Sliders ASP World Championship dans des conditions idéales. Kekoa a battu en finale ses amis Makamae DeSoto et Keoni Keaulana de Makaha ainsi que le Brésilien Danilo Rodriguo.

Kekoa est originaire de Waikiki. C'est un habitué du World Longboard Tour mais l'année dernière, il n'avait pas réussi à se requalifier. Avec son incroyable niveau, Kekoa nous a prouvé qu'il avait le potentiel pour se battre avec les meilleurs mondiaux. Il se retrouvera dès demain contre le champion du monde en titre Harley Ingleby.

Les trois autres finalistes de la journée lui ont donné du fil à retordre. Makamae DeSoto à même été en tête durant toute la moitié de la finale. La pression a fait vibrer le public hawaiien et le suspense est resté à son comble jusqu'à la fin.

Cette journée riche en émotion n'est que le début d'une semaine incroyable et tout le monde attend avec impatience l'arrivée d'une grosse houle pour le début de l'événement principal
