Jesus Surf Classic, 15th year of running Croyde Bay, 8th -  9th September  2007

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 3 September, 2007 : - - With over 100 surfers already entered for this year Jesus Surf Classic, it looks like being a great weekend of top surfing action, good weather, coupled with a big skateboard competition. Croyde Bay once again hosts the Jesus Surf Classic, over the weekend of 8th –9th September. This hugely successful event has now been running for fifteen years.

This surf contest is organised and run by Christian Surfers UK, and this year there is over £2,000 of prize money on offer, between the 8 categories, with the open surfing winner receiving £250. With last year’s event being over subscribed with over 160 entries, contestants are being advised this year to get their entry forms in as soon as possible, as some categories are already full.

The Longboarding event will this year be run separately over the weekend of 6th and 7th at Polzeath, with 4 categories available, Open , Womens, Junior and Masters. More details to follow very shortly.  With Aussie ‘Open’ Winner Rhys Olivery not in the country there will be a new champion in this division, however ladies champion, Kathleen Spears and Junior Champion Jayce Robinson are looking to retain their title.

There will be a ‘big move’ skate contest on the specially constructed, new and improved skate park at 3pm on the Saturday afternoon, with free entry. We are looking forward to seeing even more skaters coming down to get involved with this.

As before, over 100 Christian Surfers helpers from around the country will be involved in organising the weekend, making it as pleasurable as possible.  There will be a marquee, BBQ and surf and skate movies shown on the large screen.

To enter the event either pick up an entry form from your local Surf Shop, or checkout the website  or e-mail for a form.

We have agreed a 2-½ day special rate for the campsite with Parkdean Holidays for competitors and their supporters.  This means that no one has to leave their pitch by 10.00am on Sunday morning.  When booking your camping mention the special deal and get the special rate.

The Jesus Surf Classic has become one of the biggest and longest running surf contests in the UK, and Christian Surfers UK are once again very much looking forward to hosting it at what is one of the best breaks on the North Coast, Croyde Bay.
