African Surfrider Vol. 03 No. 01 On Sale Now
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 20 January, 2009 : - - African Surfrider has enjoyed some great sales recently, and the support from the South African surf industry continues to grow. Everything looks good for a big year this year, and expectations are for the magazine to continue to grow and develop as the premier South African surf mag.
Errol Hickman is the legendary shaper and surfer covered for the Legends chapter of the new issue, and it's a great story about an unsung South African surfing hero. His story, written by Hugh Thompson, is both entertaining and full of interesting historical surfing facts.
There are a few travel features in this issue, including an essay on the past, present and future of surf travel, a glimpse at a new South Sumatran hideaway, and waves in Ghana, all accompanied with some alluring images. Makes you want to go out and impulsively buy that ticket on your credit card.
Some sick images from a gaggle of the best shooters in the world make up the visuals in this issue, with giant Mavericks sitting alongside deserted lineups and esoteric waves and destinations. Enough to get the most jaded surfer amped.
Ricky Basnett cuts to the chase and reveals all in Rider Focus in what is set to be a much-talked about article, and Glen Drysdale interviews the artist and surfer Chris Brehem for an enlightening and refreshing Surf Addict feature.
All in, something for everyone.
