Arnette's Chris Waring Wins the Sobe No Fear Air Show
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 18 July, 2006 : - - Arnette's Chris Waring found the winning wave in the final minutes of the Sobe No Fear Air Show. During the Fear at the Pier Pro Junior event held in Huntington Beach on July 9th, 2006, surfers who executed the best aerials during their heats were given wildcards into the specialty event.
In his semifinal heat, Chris, a Huntington Beach local, boosted 2 front-side air reverses that qualified him for the Air Show. In the final of the Air Show he stuck a backside air reverse on a left corner in the last remaining minutes of the heat. The crumbly waist high wave reformed, stood up, and gave Chris the ramp he needed to take the win. "I never won an air show before, all my friends and family were there, it was a great experience" Says Chris.
2006 is Chris Waring's first full year as a pro after having a very successful amateur career. Confidence boosters like this, plus the $1,000 cash, can only help as Chris slugs it out on the WQS tour.
