Arvind ties up with Billabong in India
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 12 December, 2012 : - - Sanjay Lalbhai-led Arvind will open stores for Billabong as the Indian fashion retailer expands global alliances. The deal with Billabong, involving long term rights for the domestic market, comes weeks after Arvind acquired local operations of British retailers Debenhams and Next, besides Nautica.
Arvind plans to open 10 Billabong stores, competing with Quiiksilver and Roxy retailed in India through Reliance Brands. India's leading corporates, including Aditya Birla, Reliance Industries and DLF, have a string of joint ventures and licensing deals.
The fully-owned subsidiary of Arvind retails international brands, including Tommy Hilfiger, Arrow, Gant and US Polo Association, among others, and registered sales of Rs 1,400 crore last year. The first new stores of Billabong will come up in Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh and Bangalore.
