Australian Skin Cancer Clinics NSW Longboard Titles to run at Port Macquarie

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 8 June, 2012 : - - Sydney -- The yearly meeting place for all NSW Longboarders is the 6 day event that is, the Australian Skin Cancer Clinics NSW Longboard State Titles. Port Macquarie opens it’s pristine beaches to competitors with a new event format, added divisions and solid partnership. Successfully collaborating with the NSW Longboard Association in 2011, Surfing NSW and the Australian Skin Cancer Clinics have now joined forces, in an effort to bring a sun safe message to the public with a state wide event.

“Australian Skin Cancer Clinics is proud to support the Surfing NSW Longboard State Titles, as we see raising community awareness of the need to have regular skin checks is essential. Australians are four times more likely to develop a skin cancer than any other form of cancer and ASCC aim to provide caring accessible and efficient service for early detection, diagnosis, treatment and management of skin cancer”, said Julie Toma.

As General Manager of the Independent Practitioner Network, Julie explains the ASCC actively promotes skin cancer awareness and prevention and is looking forward to meeting competitors and members of the community in Port Macquarie and giving out free Skin Cancer Check Vouchers to all SNSW Members.

“This is the first time that Australian Skin Cancer Clinics has been part of a large state wide sporting event. We will have a team of Australian Skin Cancer Clinic personnel on hand at the event handing out Skin Check Promotion Voucher’s and Visors, I would love to attend and maybe even go for a surf!”.

“The alignment between Surfing NSW and ASCC is a perfect fit and we would like to support Surfing NSW events in future. Annual skin checks are recommended as early detection is essential in treating skin cancers and melanomas”, said Julie Toma.
