Billabong to introduce their Platinum Stretch Boardshort at Surf Expo

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 20 August, 2009 : - - In a season of high tech change and innovation, Billabong has introduced the PX1 Platinum Stretch boardshort, combining key components and materials to produce a surfer‚s boardshort with unprecedented flexibility, lightness and comfort. The „ZG infinite‰ fabric not only has a water repellent coating that eliminates absorption and friction but infuses a quad-stretch, welded seam  component creating a four-way elasticity, boosting mobility in all directions.

„The welded seams allow you to pull it as far as you want because the welding stretches with the fabric - so the seams don‚t inhibit the stretch of the fabric,‰ says Billabong Design Director Rob McCarty. „A lot of technical innovation has been implemented to create something we think is a real improvement in boardshort design.‰

The „PX Infinite Seams‰ the ultimate in stretch welded seam technology eliminates all but 2 stretch-welded seams, maximizing flexibility and comfort. The featherweight construction is strong and creating a boardshort weighing less than 140 grams. The PlatinumX stretch boardshort line will be introduced at the Surf Expo in Florida this week, and limited quantities of the „PX1‰ will be available at select retailers by September 4th.

The PX1 has achieved improvement in flexibility, lightness, mobility, comfort. „Every aspect of surfing performance has been taken into consideration,‰ says McCarty. „This is a better boardshort.‰
