BoardRoom film Production starts filming on Oahu today
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 14 December, 2009 : - - Feature film production for the movie 'BoardRoom Legends of Surfboard Shaping' is currently filming in Oahu. With production on schedule for a summer 2010 release the BoardRoom crew will spend the next weeks on the Islands continuing with their interviews for their movie.
We have interviews scheduled for Oahu, The Big Island as well as Maui says director Markus Davids. Our movie is dedicated to preserve a piece of surfing history. We have been sitting down with some of the greatest legends of surfboard shaping including Dick Brewer, Doanld Takayama, Bing Copeland, Hap Jacobs, Mike Hynson, and Rich Harbour and we will continue our journey here in the Islands.
Filming commenced today with the first interview on the Oahu with Harold Iggy. Harold has been collaborating with Rick and Robby Naish over the past three decades as a shaper and had a tremendous influence on not only surfboard designs but windsurfing boards and recently Stand Up Paddle boards says director Davids. Its is always a pleasure and an honor to be given the opportunity to spend time with such an accomplished craftsman as Harold. During our interviews we not only dig deep into surfboard history but we also touch on Harold influence on modern board design.
With producer Robert Bell and cinematographer Robert Jax, BoardRooms list of other interviews includes George Downing, Mike Eaton, Bob Ole Olsen, and Ben Aipa and T&C founder Craig Sugihara. This is a perfect time for us to be in the Hawaii, with the big swells coming in, and also to stay on our production schedule. We still have quite a bit of work ahead of us upon our return back to California with greats such as Lance Carson, Dave Sweet, Micky Munoz already schedule for interviews at the beginning of the year.
