Almondsbury and Easter Compton future site of surfing lake

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 November, 2013 - A second public exhibition is being held to discuss plans for Britain’s first multi-million pound surfing lake in Almondsbury and Easter Compton. Proposals to build a £6.2 million in-land surfing experience between Over Court Farm and Washingpool Farm split local opinion at the first open consultation in July.

As well as providing surfing waves of up to 1.6 metres high, the 40-acre site would include an adventure trail, natural pool, camping area with 100 pitches and eight eco-lodges, an education centre, changing facilities and café.

The Wave team said they had been hugely encouraged by the ideas and views they have received from the public on the concept plans.

“Ever since we first started talking about the project, we’ve been overwhelmed by the positive response from the public,” said Nick Hounsfield, co-founder of the project. “Following on from the first exhibition, we’ve listened very carefully and taken into account all the ideas and suggestions we’ve received.
