Firewire Surfboards Burns Brightly
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 7 April, 2006 : - - Firewire Surfboards is proud to announce the addition of Chuy Reyna and Rod Tomlinson in the roles of Marketing Manager and Sales Manager respectively.
Both Chuy and Rod are avid surfers and long time participants in the action sports marketplace, bringing a wealth of experience to the company.
After 14 years at Dragon, joining FIREWIRE was a big move for Chuy, "The last time I got this excited over a surfboard was when I got my first
Thruster - I was 14 years old. After 20 years in the industry, to my knowledge this is the first time hi-performance surfboard technology has been
the central mission of a surf company and I'm stoked to be involved".
Rod cut his teeth at Becker Surfboards and then as retail manager at the RipCurl Trestles location. He then transitioned to Southern California Sales Rep for FCS, OAM and most recently, Cult. He brings with him considerable retail experience combined with a detailed knowledge of hard goods.
FIREWIRE SURFBOARDS, while new to the scene by name, has deep roots in the industry and most recently refined the development of Future Shapes Technology (FST), an advanced melding of space age epoxy composites and wooden parabolic rails to create a surfboard of incredible lightness, strength and rapid response flex memory. The age-old trade off between performance and durability is now a thing of the past.
Recently nominated for the SIMA Product Innovation of the Year Award, FIREWIRE SURFBOARDS brings snowboard-like flex and acceleration to surfing, taking hi-performance to
an even higher level.
The FIREWIRE management team includes Nev Hyman who brings over 30 years of shaping experience, Bert Berger the epoxy scientist, Dougall
Walker and Matthew Perrin, previously General Manager and CEO of Billabong Australia respectively, and David Cross the former CEO of Base before
joining FIREWIRE. Mark Price, former VP of Marketing at Reef rounds out the group.
The company has headquarters in Burleigh Heads Australia and Cardiff California. FIREWIRE SURFBOARDS will be available this summer through select US retailers.
