Boarding House Mentors to Hold Fundraiser at Agoura Canyon Club
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 25 October, 2006 : - - Boarding House Mentors (BHM), the nonprofit organization that brings the stoke of surfing and snowboarding to inner city kids, is holding a musical fundraiser and silent auction on November 5th at the Canyon Club in Agoura.
Entertainment will include Hal Sparks (of Celebrity Duet and Queer as Folk fame), Triple Scoop (members of Metal Skool), Daize Shayne (former World Longboard Champion and musician), Todd Hannigan (Ventura resident, surfer/musician who wrote and performed title track on Jack Johnsons latest album), Gary Ballen (producer/musician) and Ian Field.
These wonderful musicians and entertainers are donating their time to help Boarding House Mentors build awareness and expand the work that we do. We are extremely thankful for the generosity of these entertainers, our co-producers Darren Leader (Oak Park resident and Triple Scoop drummer) and Gary Ballen and the Canyon Club for providing their resources and talents to benefit Boarding House Mentors, shared Andy Kastenberg,
Oak Park resident and Boarding House Mentors Board Chairman. The silent auction will include collectible surf/snow/skate items, unique artwork and apparel and items from local retailers.
Having concluded its 4th summer surf season at Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades, Boarding House Mentors is gearing up for its winter snowboard program.
More than teaching kids about board sports, Boarding House Mentors unique community environment allows for participant youth to make new friends, encourage each other and learn a new challenging sport that provides a new and unique experience and a positive alternative to the endemic problems facing inner city youth such as gangs, drugs and violence.
Tickets can be purchased through the Canyon Club website or through the Ticketmaster and at the door. The event starts at 6pm. Contact: Grace Padilla-Kastenberg Executive Director 818.497.0250.
