Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 September, 2014 - Electric announced today that free surf veteran Peter Mendia has joined Electric's family of world-class athletes and ambassadors to represent sunglasses and the brand's newly launched digital simple tide watch.
“I’m excited to be a part of the Electric family. I have admired the brand’s core style for a long time now. I think it’s a good fit for my surfing lifestyle & I’m honored they see me the same way. “– Peter Mendia
“Pete Mendia is the blue print for power surfing. In a time where most are taking to the air, Pete never fails to impress with his rail game and has always stayed true to his surfing expression. From magazine covers to boat trips with the world's best surfers, to charging every winter in Hawaii, Pete represents the East Coast on a global scale and doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon.” – Ian Foulke, Global Surf & Lifestyle Marketing Manager
Peter Mendia is a Florida native, a 15-year free surf veteran and voted one of the top 5 free surfers in the world by Surfing Magazine. Mendia standing just over 6"1 has an extreme athletic prowess and is recognized for his powerful turns and tubes.

His 2013 Surfer magazine cover (in a addition to a YouTube video that went viral) was from the all time Hurricane Sandy swell that had never before seen waves at Pumphouse, one of Mendia's hometown breaks.
In addition to traveling the globe searching for the perfect wave, Mendia can be found at "Mendia Boarding School" the surf camp he founded for area youth now in it's second year. He also dedicates his time to charities such as Share the Stoke. When he's not surfing or at the surf camp Mendia is spending time with his wife Ali and their two sons Egan and Kepa.
