Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 10 June, 2015 - Costa Mesa, California - Today Freestyle announced the Shark Tooth, the world’s first watch combining real-time surf, tide, and weather data for thousands of locations across the globe with the added benefit of activity tracking and camera/music controls for a smartphone.

Two years in the making, the Shark Tooth starts with Freestyle’s most popular silhouette, the Shark Classic, and adds the power of the Wavetrak API, the data behind Surfline, Buoyweather and Fishtrack. The result is on- wrist access to the most extensive global network of surf conditions available. Additionally, what further distinguishes the Shark Tooth from any other surf watch on the market is its ability to wirelessly control the user’s smartphone camera and music, and double as an activity tracker.  

“When we first approached Surfline with the concept, the platform and technology was not yet available, it had to be built. It’s a great accomplishment to see our partnership turn this original concept into reality,” said Mani Farhang, Head of Product, Freestyle. “As pioneers of this platform, our aim was always to make this technology accessible at an incredibly affordable price. The last piece was ensuring it was developed around the quintessential Shark design, and then loading it with additional features like activity tracking, plus music and camera controls. We’re stoked to finally release this to our consumers.”

With a complimentary Freestyle App, available for iOS or Android, the Shark Tooth syncs with the user’s smartphone via Bluetooth® and automatically geo-locates the nearest beaches to its current location (or manually chosen favorites).  The App will also allow the user to customize preferred watch buttons to control the phone camera and music and select desired activities in Sports Mode.
