Researchers track a 2,300 pound great white shark  

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 2 August, 2014 - A 14-foot, 2,300-pound great white shark with a tracking device named Katharine  – announced her presence off the coast of Wilmington about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday by emitting a signal picked up by a satellite.

The immature female shark was tagged Aug. 19, 2013, in the Atlantic Ocean off Cape Cod, Mass. Since then she has traveled about 6,400 miles. Within the last month she cruised from the Gulf of Mexico, around Florida and up the East Coast.
