SIMA Awards Hypto Krypto 'Surfboard of the Year'
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 16 February, 2016 - The Haydenshapes ‘Hypto Krypto’ has been awarded ‘Surfboard of the Year’ at the SIMA Image Awards, an annual event honoring surf industry brand achievements in the USA. This marks Haydenshapes second ‘Surfboard of The Year’ title in 2015, having been awarded the same honor in Australia for the past two years running (2014 & 2015) at the SBIA Australian Surf Industry Awards.
Hayden Cox took to the stage and accepted the award at Thursday night’s SIMA event held at The Grove in Anaheim, California. Disrupting a seven consecutive year winning streak dominated by Channel Islands, (also a finalist alongside Haydenshapes, Firewire, Rusty and SUPER) the ‘Surfboard Of the Year’ award was granted to the Hypto Krypto - a worldwide best seller most commonly built in Haydenshapes patented and signature FutureFlex technology.
In the twelve year history of the Awards, Haydenshapes is only the second international brand outside of the US to be awarded Surfboard of The Year in America by Surf Industry Manufacturers Association.
“I’m so stoked to see Haydenshapes win Surfboard of the Year at this years SIMA Awards. I grew up idolizing the brands nominated and those who had previously won it, so to win this award in both Australia and the USA for 2015 is exciting for sure."
"I started Haydenshapes when I was 15, nearly 2 decades ago, and have been dreaming this stuff up since I was a kid. As a shaper you are always designing boards for other people but the Hypto Krypto is one model that I first shaped for myself back in 2007. Nothing stokes me out more than seeing people from all around the world riding it and having fun on it - not to mention Craig Anderson on his 5’4 Hypto at that Kandui swell last year getting cover’s on it.” – Hayden Cox.
