U.S. Kneeboard Titles to be Held 7 - 8 November, 2014
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 7 October, 2014 - The 2014 Kneeboard Surfing USA Titles and Kneeboard Festival will be held on the south side of Huntington Beach Pier, 7 - 8 November, 2014. One of the premier kneeboarding events in the world, the Kneeboard Surfing USA Titles attracts 64 of the sport’s top competitors.
In addition to the open division, the 2014 event will feature Women’s, Junior and “super grom” divisions. It will also include the “Sandy’s Cup Team Challenge,” an event with top competitors representing their home breaks/regions.
Orange County kneeboarders hope to defeat a talented crew from San Diego – who have dominated the open final the last three years. The contest annually attracts an international pool of kneeboarders and is one of the longest-running events of its kind in the world.
Heats will begin each day at 7 a.m. weather and waves permitting. The public is invited to attend this free event with outstanding views of the competition available from the beach and along Huntington Beach’s famous pier. Sandy’s Beach Grill will host an official event gathering Thursday and Friday evenings at 6:30 p.m. and an awards program will be held Saturday evening.
“This is the largest kneeriding event in the U.S. and one of the longest-running events in the world,” said Don Harris, KSUSA President. “Kneeboard Surfing USA is committed to promoting the sport and there’s no bigger or more high-profile stage than Huntington Beach Pier.”
This event celebrates the 11th year of continuous KSUSA sponsored kneeboard surfing competition, including ten U.S. Titles and one World Titles event.
In addition to pushing performance levels, Harris says the U.S. Titles provides valuable exposure for a sport that continues to thrive amongst a hard-core group of riders – many of whom have been competing for more than 30 years. The event is also a qualifier for the 2015 ISA World Kneeboard Titles to be held in Australia next spring.
