Roll With RVCA Surfing Series Heading To Port Elizabeth This Sunday

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 23 March, 2010 : - - The Roll With RVCA grassroots surfing project is set for their inaugural event of the series this Sunday in Port Elizabeth. This will be the first of seven such contests that will take place at various beaches nation wide, and will be hosted by local surf shops at these beaches.

The Roll With RVCA surfing project is aimed at bringing back surfing contests to the whole family, instead of contests that only cater for the top surfers in the country. There will be categories that will open up the event to everyone, including U19, Open, Over 35, Girls and a Retro Division. Prizes for these contests will consist of R10,000 worth of RVCA products per tournament across the divisions.

The Roll With RVCA Surfing Series series is proudly hosted by Zigzag Surfing Magazine, who will have a staff photographer in attendance at each contest. RVCA will have a videographer on the ground shooting as well. Results, images and video footage of the days' surfing will be uploaded onto the website as well as through various RVCA online portals. RVCA's Arno Lane is excited about the upcoming series.

"We want to bring the family involvement back into surf contests, and make them fun again," said Lane. "Also, by RVCA teaming up with the local independent surf shops as well as with Zigzag Magazine, we're set to really develop a great local following for each event."

Surf Centre in Port Elizabeth is hosting the first Roll With RVCA contest, and Surf Centre's Dave Lipshitz is also firmly behind the series. "It's a great thing that RVCA are doing," reckons Dave. "Apart from the fact that RVCA are catering for everyone in the family and encouraging all to get involved, they are also going to some of the slightly out-of-way places that sometimes get neglected. We're stoked to have this competition in Port Elizabeth."

To enter, you can either head over to Surf Centre and sign up, or you can enter at the beach on the day. For entry queries please phone Surf Centre Walmer Park on 041 367 2206. Contestants are to meet at The Pipe at Pollock Beach at 8:00 Am on Sunday.
