Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 16 July, 2010 : - - The International Surfing Association, Surfing’s World Governing Authority recognized by the International Olympic Committee, is proud to announce that as of last week, the Republic of Singapore became its newest member.

The Surfing Association of Singapore, led by President Nazir Salleh, is now the National Governing Body of the sport in the country of Singapore. Located on the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula of Southeast Asia, the surfers of the country gathered to create their own surfing association to work for a better surfing future.

We look forward to seeing a Singapore National Team in our upcoming World Championships

About ISA 
ISA was originally founded as the International Surfing Federation in 1964 and has been running world championships since 1964 and the Junior World Championships since 1980. ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of over 60 countries on six continents. Its headquarters are located in La Jolla, California. It is presided by Fernando Aguerre, first elected in 1994 in Rio, and re-elected six times since. The ISA's four Vice Presidents are Alan Atkins (Australia), Robin de Kock (South Africa), Mike Gerard (USA) and Karín Sierralta (Peru).
