Jay 'Bottle' Thompson Surf With The Boys Tour
Presented by Play It Safe By The Water
13th Beach, Victoria Australia
7 - 8 March 2015
Event promotes positive male role models and professional coaching
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 9 March, 2015 - The Jay ‘Bottle’ Thompson Surf With The Boys Tour moved to 13th Beach today for it’s penultimate surf session. Black Rock offered the group a great variety of waves, with a protected inside corner for the younger participants and great left hand breaking peaks for the more experienced athletes.
A total of ten of Barwon Heads’ and Ocean Grove’s finest surfers joined Thompson, a former World Tour Surfer, for a high performance coaching session. All participants were given a warm up session and some crucial water safety skills before getting in the water and learning from one of the world’s best surfer.
Having spent many hours on the 13th Beach coastline during his time on the World Tour, Thompson was pleased with the conditions on offer. “We had such a wide variety of kids today, from Victorian U/18 team members right down to 7 year old frothers”
“It was great to see the depth of talent this area has.... The boys from this area show great potential, it was great to have the opportunity to help them develop their skills. You can tell that these kids have great role models in the water, they were really aware on the movement of the ocean and were awesome at keeping an eye on each other out there"
Surfing Victoria High Performance Coach Cahill Bell-Warren was also on hand, providing valuable technical advice to the participants from the beach.
The aim of the Surf With The Boys Tour presented by Play It Safe By The Water is to use positive male role models and professional surf coaches from Surfing Victoria to pass on their skills and knowledge to the next generation of male surfers.
The tour finishes at Torquay on Tuesday. The Jay ‘Bottle’ Thompson Surf With The Boys tour is presented by Play it Safe by the Water Surfing Victoria.
