Joe and Pauline earn entries by winning the Premiers Active April Challenge 

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 30 March, 2015 - Joe Van Dijk and Pauline Ado have claimed the wildcard positions into the Rip Curl Pro today after taking out the Premiers Active April Challenge Trials in great waves at Bells Beach.

Brother of current Women’s Championship Tour Surfer Nikki, Joe Van Dijk was the in form surfer the whole day locking in 3 of the top 4 wave scores of the day.
Having to come up against experience competitors in Cahill Bell-Warren (Bells Beach) and Harry Mann (Torquay), Van Dijk dominated all of his heats through to the final with a mix of power and progression.
Facing off against close friend Cody Robinson (Jan Juc), the final saw a seesawing battle with both surfers claiming multiple high scoring rides. In the end it was Van Dijk who came out on top with a heat total of 16.10 to Robinson’s 15.63.
“The whole final was wave after wave. I found it hard not to go the little ones it was that good out there”’ said Van Dijk.
“It was one of the best heats of my life and it was so good to surf it with Cody. We have known each other since we were so young, and we stay together a lot so it was awesome to have a final with him”
“It’s going to be so good to compete in the Rip Curl Pro with my sister (Nikki)” he continued. “I have been watching her compete over the past few years and it is what I have been aspiring to do, its nice to get the chance to surf in the main event”
In the women’s Pauline Ado used her experience at Bells Beach to take out the final coming up against some young up and coming females.
Facing off against Kirra-Belle Olsson (Central Coast, NSW), Kobie Enright (Coolangatta, QLD) and local girl Zoe Clarke (Jan Juc, VIC), Ado was able to find the best waves of the heat tallying a heat today of 14.84 points.
Placing in second was Kobie Enright with Kirra-Belle Olsson and Zoe Clarke in third and fourth respectively.
“I am stoked to get into the event. Hopefully we get good waves like we did today” said Ado. “Thank you to Rip Curl for allowing me the chance to surf in the trials and make it into the main event”
The Rip Curl Pro waiting period starts April 1st at Bells Beach.
