Holland shatters his leg on a ridiculously big wave in Western Australia

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 29 June, 2015 - Western Australia - Australian hellman made news yesterday, towing into one of the biggest waves ever ridden in Western Australia, before taking on one of the heaviest wipeouts ever caught on camera.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, The 38-year-old father-of-two raced to the infamous surfing break Cow Bombie at Gracetown, about 270 kilometres south west of Perth on Thursday, joined by mate Jamie Mitchell who jetted in from Hawaii.

The pair pair jetted out to Cow Bombie on Saturday and began towing into some very, very large waves. Justin let go of the rope into one particularly unfriendly slab, and found himself taking the lip directly on the head.

"I was pretty lucky. The leg was shattered and the bone could have easily punctured the femoral artery. The new wetsuit has a lot of reinforcement and I think that helped keep all the broken bits stable," he said.
