Qualifying Series to end at Plage Central in September

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 June, 2015 - Vieux Boucau, France - The Longboard Pro Vieux Boucau, final event of the European Longboard Qualifying Series will return fromSeptember 18-20, to the laid-back village of Vieux Boucau in South-West France.

“For the second consecutive year Vieux Boucau will be the longboard capital of France, hosting the European final of the Qualifying Series,” Pascal Vergne, President of Vieux Boucau Surf Club stated. “It’s very important for us to support longboarding and organize this event as it is in our DNA here at the Vieux Boucau Surf Club.”

Last year’s inaugural event saw the victories of France’s Justine Dupont (FRA) 23 and Edouard Delpero (FRA) 25, in beautiful conditions of peeling two-to-three foot waves under the French sun.

“I’m stoked that this event returns and I hope the sand banks are as good as last year’s,” Delpero said. “It will be a great European final and I look forward to share a good time with all the competitors and public coming to support the event. See you there !”

A long tradition of longboarding in Vieux Boucau has built up the profile of this little town on the northern edges of the world famous Hossegor area. With excellent waves on offer and susbtantially smaller crowds, conditions are ideal for a relaxed stay on the coast.

“Vieux Boucau Port d’Albret is really proud to host the only French stop on the European professional longboarding tour again this year,” Pierre Froustey, Mayor of Vieux Boucau added. “This event is a testament to the strong heritage of our city in the world of surfing. We are grateful to count on the Vieux Boucau Surf Club once again to organize this event and on behalf of our city’s officials I wish all the best to both competitors and the public who will come enjoy watching the competition on our beaches.”

The final LQS event in 2015 in the region, the Longboard Pro Vieux Boucau will crown this year’s European Champions as well as decide the qualifying spots for the coveted longboard World Final.
