Matta Shapes Portugal launches Smart Tech construction

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 2 February, 2016 - The Smart Tech was designed to get the best out of the Eps and epoxy resin. The boards are constructed using high density EPS with a carbon stringer and epoxy resin.

The board is lighter, more resistant and faster, the perfect combination. Matta Shapes removed the wood stringer and used carbon instead as a reinforcement, exactly where more resistant and hardness is needed.

The design uses three different fiberglass reinforcements going in six directions for more flex and strength than traditional eps constructions. The unique layering of materials provides pop and a really responsive shortboard.

Although the board is more resistant than a PU board, it is not indestructible. The board shouldn't be over-exposed to the sun or high temperatures. In case of a ding the board must be repaired with and only epoxy resin.
