McTavish partners with Australian tourism agencies
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 6 August, 2013 : - - McTavish Surfboards and Global Surf Industries have partnered with Australian tourism agencies Destination NSW and the Pacific Coast Touring Route. They are offering a trip for two to Byron Bay, Australia.
The trip includes return airfares to Australia, five nights accommodation at the luxury Byron at Byron Resort and Spa, return airport transfers and two custom surfboards personally hand-shaped by surfing pioneer Bob McTavish. Winners will meet Bob to plan the surfboard designs at McTavish Surfboards HQ in Byron Bay.
“Surfing is synonymous with Australia’s legendary Pacific Coast between Sydney and Brisbane,” said McTavish, whose short-board pioneering rivalry with Hawaiian Dick Brewer changed surfing forever.
“Us young surf punks spent most of the sixties and early seventies surfing between Sydney’s north shore to undiscovered breaks in Newcastle, Crescent Head, Angourie, Lennox Head, Broken Head, Byron Bay and the Tweed Coast. The Pacific Coast’s clear, warm waters pump with clean groundswell through the southern fall and winter, while spring and summer offer hidden goodies to those who know.”
Sleeping in cars or cabins and subsisting on bananas between epic surf sessions, the Legendary Pacific Coast experience shared by McTavish and his fellow troubadours was rather more basic than that on offer today. The Byron at Byron Resort and Spa is a high watermark for luxury accommodation in Byron Bay.
The multi award-winning resort is inspired by nature situated on 90 acres of coastal rainforest and an un-wavering focus on regional produce, health and wellness and a holistic approach to customer service.
“The Pacific Coast of New South Wales is Australia’s legendary road trip combining accessibility, depth of choice and a year-round vacation climate,” said Irene Morgan, North American Regional Director at Destination NSW, the tourism and events authority of the state government of New South Wales.
“Authentic experiences with friendly locals, an astonishing array of organic and unique local produce, World-Heritage-listed National Parks, and breathtakingly beautiful, world-renowned surf beaches to suit beginners to professionals makes it hard to match amongst Australian journeys.” continued Ms Morgan.
The competition is open to US citizens only. To enter and read more about the prize terms and conditions visit the McTavish website.
