Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 November, 2015 - The Southwest Conference Open Season held the fourth event of the 2015-16 season October 31-November 1 at Salt Creek in Dana Point. It was Salt Creek at it's finest as flawless 4-6 foot lefts prevailed for a marathon weekend of competition on the fourth stop of the elite Open Season series.

13-year-old Kade Matson was the talk of the town as he continues to surf at an incredible level beyond his years capturing double wins in the Juniors and the premier Mens division.

Matson's victory in the Mens will vault him to the top of the leaderboard over Jordy Collins who was absent from the event because of personal reasons. In the 4-man final Matson jumped to first place on a buzzer beating 7.57 ride to overtake reigning Conference and Regional Champion Kei Kobayashi who placed second.

Matson was also dominant in his own age category of the Juniors 15 & under division taking a commanding win with a 17.33 total on waves scores of 9.5 and 7.83. In the Women's division, La Jolla's Tiare Thompson continues her amazing undefeated streak with unbreakable confidence bringing her victory total to four.

San Clemente's 12-year-old Jett Schilling was surfing at an incredible level with beautiful carves and punts in the pumping conditions claiming his third win in the Open Boys along with a third place in the Open Juniors. Shilling will remain on top of both the Juniors and Boys ratings.

12-year-old Alyssa Spencer continues to push her level making a huge statement in the Open Girls semis where she dropped the highest score and totals of the event-a near perfect 9.97 and a back-up 9.37. She advanced to the final where she clinched her first win of the year in the Open Season series.

The Southwest Conference Open Season is regarded as the leading competition for west coast surfers.
