Juliette Paskowitz files suit against Lionsgate Telvision for family's story's TV rights
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 27 July, 2015 - Los Angeles, California - On Wednesday, Juliette Paskowitz, wife of the late famed Dorian “Doc” Paskowitz, filed the suit against Lionsgate Television and Polsky Films, claiming the studios agreed to go forward with a big budget project but never paid the family for the rights.
According to the OC Register,
Juliette Paskowitz said the family is entitled to the no less than the $300,000 purchase price.
The Superior Court breach-of-contract complaint states Dorian Paskowitz signed the agreement in 2010. The agreement was renewed several times, most recently months before he passed away.
The final agreement expired in June but Juliette Paskowitz believes executives are developing a high profile production involving award-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence. Lawrence is not a party in the lawsuit.
Juliette Paskowitz, 83, claims a Lionsgate lawyer told her in an email that executives were moving forward with the project but she has not been paid. She further states that Polsky told her no payment is due until principal photography begins, which she calls inconsistent with industry standards and contract wording.
