Traveling program teaches water safety for girls

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 8 October, 2014 - The Play it Safe by the Water Surfing for Girls Presented by Ghanda returns in 2014 for its 15th year travelling the state teaching girls how to surf and stay safe in the ocean this summer. Visiting 9 beaches across Victoria, this year’s program welcomes a new coach with current world Number 23 Georgia Fish attending every location alongside former Australian Champion and star of the First Love film, India Payne.

The program uses positive female role models and professional surf coaches to pass on surfing skills and knowledge to the next generation of female surfers. Georgia Fish is excited to get around the state and meet the next generation of surfing stars.

"The Surfing For Girls program is such an amazing opportunity for anyone out there looking to gain greater confidence and knowledge in the ocean whilst developing a sense of achievement on their surfboard and having fun alongside their friends."

“I’m really looking forward to travelling the state and meeting all the girls!”

Surfing Victoria CEO, Max Wells, is stoked to have a surfer of Georgia’s calibre engaging with the Victorian Female surfing fraternity.

“Georgia has been one of our Victoria’s top competitors and surfers throughout her whole career.”

“She is the second ranked Victorian on the Woman’s WQS and a fantastic role model for all Female Victorian surfers. I encourage all girls to get along and have a fun day surfing.”

All participants will receive a surf lesson, Ghanda t-shirt and a show bag at the end of the day packed with gear from Ghanda and other sponsors for just $20!

Ghanda Founder, Josh Rudd, is excited to be back on board with the program.

“When life feels like it is all to hard it is the simple things that will turn it around for you. It is very important for your mental wellbeing to stay active no matter what sport you choose. For me getting in the ocean is a great release. Surfing is such a good sport & we are so lucky to have such a beautiful coastline in our back yard ”

“No matter what your surfing ability is we urge everyone to participate in this great event and get a free Ghanda t-shirt for doing so!”

The Play it Safe by the Water Surfing for Girls is Presented by Ghanda and Supported by Team Up, HIF, Dragon & Cancer Council Sunscreen.
