Andrew Cotton and Sharp's Brewery team up for new contest

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 May, 2015 - Cornwall, Britain - Sharp’s Brewery, makers of the UK cask beer Doom Bar, has today launched a national campaign with world renowned British big wave surfer, Andrew Cotton. People across the country have the chance to win a trip to Ireland or Portugal to watch the man himself surf the world’s biggest waves, as well as attend a surf training camp at his home in North Devon.

Andrew Cotton is famous for pushing the boundaries by surfing the world’s biggest waves, and for putting Great Britain firmly on the surfing map. He is one of the few men alive who’s managed to conquer the fear of a 60 foot high big wave. Now, Andrew is spreading his passion for surfing across the UK, by joining Sharp’s Brewery’s ‘There’s an Adventure Brewing’ campaign.

As part of the campaign, people across the UK will get the chance to join Andrew on a two-day surf camp at his home in Croyde, Devon. From here, Andrew will select a companion to accompany him on an all-expenses paid trip to either Mullaghmore Head, Ireland or Nazare, Portugal, where they could witness him taking on some of the biggest waves on earth. Whether just learning or perfecting your pro tricks – the competition is open to anyone who is passionate about surfing.

With research showing that more than half (57%) of Brits feel surfing is the most adventurous of all sports, and 61% would re-live last 10 years with more adventure if given the chance, the competition offers people the opportunity to do something out of the ordinary.

Andrew Cotton had this to say: “Being from the South West, adventure has been in my blood since I was young, and I’ve always loved getting out on my board and facing the elements. This partnership with Sharp’s felt like a natural fit, given their Cornish heritage and similar willingness to push boundaries.

Surfing, and especially Big Wave surfing, is close to my heart, and I’m excited to be sharing this adventure with the rest of the UK. Britain isn’t known for its big waves, and people may not often get the chance to get out into the surf. This is the perfect opportunity to add some excitement to their lives by joining me on the adventure of a lifetime.”

The idea behind ‘There’s an Adventure Brewing’ campaign is to get people across the UK to live life with a little more of that Cornish energy, to explore new passions and make every day an adventure.  It’s an honour to be working with Andrew and his fearlessness when out in the waves is something to aspire to.
