Vissla joins Skullcandy to run The Skullcandy Oz Grom Open

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 14 March, 2016 - Some of the world’s best grommet surfers will return to Lennox Head from July 8th – 13th 2016, to compete in one of the premier junior events on the calendar, The Skullcandy Oz Grom Open presented by Vissla.
In 2016, the event will enter its fifth year on the junior calendar and will no doubt feature one of the strongest surfer line-ups across the age groups of 12s to Pro Junior age (18-and-under).
In a similar vein to preceding years - where the event has attracted surfers from ten different countries - a full international field is again expected in 2016 with surfers coming from as far away as Europe and Japan.

In addition, this year Vissla has joined forces to present the 2016 event, inking a long-term deal with event organisers.

John Mossop from Vissla stated: “This is a prized event on the global grom and junior calendar and provides a window into the future of surfing. It is also the one event that competitors and their families love attending, so we at Vissla feel privileged to be involved.”

David Chegwyn from Skullcandy stated: “The Skullcandy Oz Grom Open is a proud event for our brand. To be associated with Le Ba Boardriders again in bringing a top class junior surfing event to our area is really cool for us. It is amazing to see the depth of talent on display and we are really pleased to be involved for our fifth year. The volunteers and local community make this event really special. Let’s hope the waves are pumping.”
Mayor of Ballina Shire Council David Wright added: “Ballina Shire Council is extremely proud to be a major sponsor of the 2016 Skullcandy OZ Grom Open. The event is broadcast live around the world and this year will have the added feature of drone cameras to add to the spectacular action. It’s no wonder the event is rated as the best junior competition in the world.”
All event divisions will be broadcast live on
