San Bartolo to host the Rip Curl Pro Junior Series in Peru
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 10 February, 2015 - Surfers up to 20 years old will compete for Pro Junior ranking points in the WSL South America and also participate in the first Powerade International Night Session
Lima, Perú the resort of San Bartolo will host an international special event this year, the Rip Curl Pro Junior Series between the 26 and 28 February in Peru. The best surfers aged up to 20 will participate in the first of the four South American World Pro Junior events on the World Surf League (WSL) circuit.
The winners in both male and female categories score 1,000 points in the ranking of WSL South America. Prize purse is 10,000 for the males and $ 2,500 for females.
Entertainment Productions, who represent WSL in the Peru tournament in which world-renown Peruvian surfers Sofia Mulanovich won the ladies’ title in 2004 and Piccolo Clemente, formal team rider Rip Curl, won the Longboard champion in 2013 - organized many years ago first level surf events along the Peruvian coast.
This year they’re opening the tournament in spectacular fashion. They’ve scheduled shows that start the 2015 event full of adrenaline, excitement, and high quality. This event, sponsored by Rip Curl and presented by Powerade, Claro, Samsung, Mapfre and D'onofrio, offers male and female competition categories with participants no more than 20 years old.
Javier Reátegui, festival event organizer and manager, stated, "Once again we want to thank the private companies, who make that our country will host the most prominent leading performers of continental surf. Besides, the support of San Bartolo City Hall and its Mayor Jorge Barthelmess has been fundamental."
"We will carry out an excellent day in San Bartolo. We have this time the Powerade International Open Night Expression Session for the night of Saturday, February 28. Night surf is back, and it’s gonna be spectacular," confirmed Reátegui.
