Surfer, musician Cody Lovaas latest SurfAid ambassador

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 11 December, 2013 - SurfAid introduces the latest SurfAid ambassador: surfer, musician and promoter of a better world, Cody Lovaas. Cody has earned the distinction as the youngest SurfAid ambassador to date.

At a mere 15-years-old, Lovaas is following his passions of surfing, songwriting and performing; but also finding time to immerse himself in projects for the greater good.
The president of SurfAid USA, Karl Luber, said: “We’re super stoked to have Cody on board. Cody was asked to become an ambassador because he ‘gets it’. As you hear in his music, he has a deeper understanding of the human condition than one would expect at his age.”
Lovaas has already participated in local fundraisers for SurfAid but will now become involved on a deeper level. Luber continued: “I look forward to watching Cody grow as an artist, but also as a human being. Just as Cody helps make SurfAid stronger, we hope to help Cody mature with a grounded sense of what he is capable of beyond music.”
Lovaas is honored to have received the title of ambassador. “I am passionate about making music and making a difference. Becoming a SurfAid ambassador gives me an amazing platform to work from to make a difference in the world.”
Lovaas joins SurfAid’s notable ambassador line up including Kelly Slater, Joel Parkinson, Jack Johnson, Mark Occhilupo, Tom Carroll, Keala Kennelly and Dave Rastovich.

Luber said of the program: “SurfAid ambassadors are people willing to share their time and energy to promote programs including Mother Child Care, villages freeing themselves from malaria, and children having access to clean water that SurfAid undertakes in remote, marginalized communities.”
Lovaas added: “To be added to this list of amazing people humbles me and more importantly inspires me to do more.”
Luber said SurfAid is a vehicle to translate the goodwill of people into meaningful changes in the lives of folks far less fortunate. “We’re stoked to be doing it and we’re stoked to have Cody on our team,” he said.
