Hurley Pro at Trestles round 1 to follow women's elimination round 2

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 8 September, 2016 - The Swatch Women’s Pro, Stop No. 7 of 10 on the 2016 Samsung Galaxy WSL Championship Tour (CT), will recommence this morning with Round 2 called ON for an 8:00 a.m. start.

The Hurley Pro, Stop No. 8 of 11 for the men’s CT, will follow with Round 1. The world’s best will take on heated match-ups at Lower Trestles in building four-to-six foot (1 - 2 metre) waves. 

“That swell is filling in nicely and with what we’ve seen so far this morning we’re definitely on,” WSL Commissioner Kieren Perrow said. “We’ll start with Round 2 of the women and move directly into the men’s Round 1. It should be a really exciting day of competition with the waves coming through and the world’s best out there to put on a show for everyone.”

Tyler Wright (AUS), current Jeep Rankings Leader, will battle event wildcard Bethany Hamilton (HAW) in Round 2 Heat 3.

Round 2 Heat 4 will witness California-native Courtney Conlogue (USA) surf against 2016 WSL Rookie Chelsea Tuach (BRB).

First in the water, an all-Californian duel between Sage Erickson (USA) and Lakey Peterson (USA) will kick things off in elimination Round 2 Heat 1.

Following the Swatch Women’s Pro Round 2, the Men’s Hurley Pro will get their Round 1 underway with current World No. 5 Jordy Smith (ZAF) taking on Californian goofy-footerNat Young (USA) and Hawaiian Keanu Asing (HAW) in the opening heat of Round 1.

Round 1 will also see current World No. 1 on the Jeep Leaderboard, John John Florence (HAW), battle 2016 WSL Rookie Davey Cathels (AUS) and event wildcardBrett Simpson (USA) in Heat 6. 

The Hurley Pro and Swatch Women’s Pro will be webcast LIVE on WorldSurfLeague.comas well as the WSL app.
