Grande Plage, Lacanau, France
14 - 23 August 2015

The next call is set for Thursday morning 7:30AM for a potential start

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 19 August, 2015 - Grande Plage, Lacanau - The Soöruz Lacanau Pro is on Stand By. Event officials have called a lay-day due to insufficient swell on offer.

A one-foot swell from the North-West is producing one-to-two foot surf as the competition bank concentrates all the swell’s energy to one particular peak, but organizers deemed conditions uncontestable for professional surfers.

“It’s still tiny today, and the forecast is looking slightly better for the upcoming days,” Rob Gunning, WSL Europe Tour Manager said. “We’ll come back early tomorrow morning and re-assess conditions for a potential big day of competition.”

Event N°2 of 7 in the European Qualifying Series, the Soöruz Lacanau Pro is one of the longest running events in Europe, having crowned champions since Greg Loehr (USA) in 1979, and across multiple divisions of the then IPS, ASP and now World Surf League.

The next call is set for Thursday morning 7:30AM for a potential start of the second round. The Soöruz Lacanau Pro is made possible with the support of the following event partners: Soöruz and NRJ amongst others.
