Coca-Cola Saquarema Pro

ASP 6 Star Men's event
Itauna,Saquarema Brazil

11 - 16 May 2010

Event called off at Saquarema due to weather conditionsPortuguese

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 13 May, 2010 : - - Saquarema Rio de Janeiro, Brazil -- Morning of day 3 of Coca-Cola Saquarema Pro 2010 rose up in the sky sunny and clean, with the waves non stop pulsing 6 foot beautifull sets behind the rocks of Itaúna´s point.

After run 6 heats of 8 remaining on the round of 96, the winds starts blowing up the waves changing completely the situation in the water giving to the surfers a very hard mission to perform the waves properly. The Head Judge and the ASP South America Tour Mannager  decides to postponed the competition calling the event off for today due the weather conditions.

One the highlights of day 3 of Coca-Cola Saquarema Pro 2010  was the 16 years old Hawaiian surfer John John Florence who gots the best score of the competition so far, a 9,63 in his best wave. “I paddled right from the inisde and I knew it wasn´t a really big set wave, but I needed a low score and think that could be a good score,” says John John. “Thats my first time here in Brazil and I´m happy beacuse the waves are really powerfull as same as I have at home, that´s nice”.

Another great shot of the day was the Brazillian local from Bombinhas (SC) Alejo Muniz, who got a sharp performance in heat 20 of round 96. “I´m glad because I could find a good scoring waves to do my turns and go through to the next round. I was quietly unhappy with my previous free sessions where I couldn´t get a good surfing, but during the heat I just was on right spot and I could find the best of my surfing.” Said Alejo.

The next call has confirmed for 7:30am tomorrow at Itaúna Beach  running the left heats of round of 96 and imediately after goes through into the round of 48. Stay tuned, Coca-Cola Saquarema Pro restarts with heat 23 on round of 96 which one had already called to jump into the water, but had to return to check out when the competition has called off

The Coca-Cola Saquarema Pro is promoted by Adding Events, under sponsorship from Coca-Cola and Oriente Construção Civil and support from the Brazil Ministery of Tourism, Government of State of Rio de Janeiro, Government of City of Saquarema and Unimed Araruama. The event sanctioned by ASP South America as level 6 from ASP World Star and organized with the support of the Rio de Janeiro State Surf Federation and Association of Surfing Saquarema.
